Coppertone is an interactive sound sculpture and a video work, where the object follows in a lineage of sound sculptures that emphasize how play and discovery set the stage for improvisation. The sounds – field recordings collected from the copper-infused distillery grounds of Glenfiddich and Balvenie Distilleries – follow a post-Cage conceptual music approach where sounds are themselves but importantly are considered musical. The video work features Coppertone performed.

Part of the work produced during the Glenfiddich Residency in Dufftown, Scotland.

Commissioned by the BMO Corporate Art Collection.
